“Originally a silk painter and primary dyer for New England Felting Supply, my love affair with nuno felt was inevitable. After becoming captivated in the spring of 2008 the infatuation continues!

Silk remnants pile up in my studio, so I've created a technique to make good use of them. Strips of hand-painted silk entwine with merino wool roving and silk embellishments to create spirals and swirls that build upon one another. The resulting textile can be anything from a simple placemat or table runner to a funky felted cowl. Beginner and experienced felters are welcome.” ~ Nancy Dorian

Nancy Dorian is a fiber artist residing in Northampton Massachusetts. After leaving a long corporate interior design career, her company "now & ZEN art to wear" emerged from the belief that joy comes from doing what you love. Ceramics, glass and beading are a few of her mediums, but she now works primarily in fiber creating one-of-a-kind artwear from her hand-painted silks using gossamer Nuno Felting techniques. During the ten years as primary dyer for New England Felting Supply, she developed her unique water-mark style for her silks which she now markets under the name of "Dances with Silk".
