Intro to Natural dyeing

260.00

Are you making a move from Synthetic to Natural Dyes? I know my goal is to transition into a more sustainable studio practice. Join us in Into to Natural Dyeing. In this 2 day class students will start the process to continue an exploration of natural dyes at home, including mordanting, preparing the dyebath, and dyeing with cotton, linens , wool and silk.

On the first day of this workshop will focus on the mordanting of wool, silk, cotton and linen and the preparation of the dyebaths of Indigo, Madder, Cutch, Cochineal, ( or other selected dye extract).

The second day will be spent dyeing the samples of each of the above colors in all four fibers.

This is a technique driven class; we will be making a sample book of the different fibers and the recipes will be put together at the end of the class.
