CREATIVE APPROACHES TO SURFACE DESIGN ON FABRIC

*Jeanne will provide the pigments and a comprehensive supply & tool kit for each student. The pigments plus

the kit will cost approximately $200 payable to Jeanne by check, cash, or credit card. The exact cost will be

determined at the time all supplies are ordered by Jeanne.

TOOLS & MATERIALS STUDENTS need to bring with them:

1. Simple designs or shapes, ideas, colors, etc. you want to work from

2. Sketch book or several sheets of drawing paper

3. 2B or 4B pencil & eraser

4. Sharpie markers: 1 each of ultra-fine and fine

5. 3 to 5 yards 100% 3 to 5 yards undyed natural fabrics (cottons, silk, linens, rayons, etc.):

 Some with a smooth texture to print on – (plain cotton muslin-bleached or unbleached, cotton

sheeting or broadcloth, cotton lawn, rayon, silk, linen).

 Optional: textured fabrics such as canvas, silk noil, slubby linens, etc.

*Store bought fabrics should be washed & dried prior to class to remove starch/sizing. Ironing not

necessary.

6. Gloves: Several pair or a box of disposable gloves or 1 pair dishwashing type gloves that fit your hand size.

7. Sharp scissors

8. Comfortable shoes

9. Work clothes or apron (pigments stain clothes)
