PLEASE BRING WITH YOU:

  • a pair of new rubber gloves (dishwashing long)

  • a seam-picker or a small pair of sharp scissors

  • an old shirt or apron – and please wear old clothes

  • closed-toe shoes

  • package of rubber bands- assorted sizes

  • sewing needles with a larger-sized eye: The best needles to use are Sharps size 7 to 10 or Embroidery needles size 4 to 8. I prefer a long needlAn Old towel

  • An Old Towel

MATERIALS FEE: $30pp

Materials provided include- Japanese Tenugi fabric 14” x 36” , all materials to make indigo vat, vinegar for final soak, thread, string, ( Additional Tenugi Fabric $10/yd)

Optional:

FABRIC: sample-sized fabrics in various types (silk, cotton, linen, rayon), torn into sample sizes, no larger than 14” w x 36” L- ( 3 or 4 will be enough)- 14” x 24” is also a good size for samples. This can be thrift store linen/ cotton, just be sure it is well-washed!

PRE-SCOUR ALL Fabrics before bringing them to class (wash in Hot water with mild soap- boil for 20-30 minutes

INDIGO DYEING IS A SLOW PROCESS- multiple dips (up to 10) are required to achieve deep color
