A Space for Renewal and Focus

Many participants describe these experiences as both creatively and personally restorative.

Time away from daily routines allows for clarity, renewed energy, and a deeper connection to one’s practice.

The Mountains of North Carolina

Our retreats and textile journeys grew from a desire to create something beyond the studio—spaces where artists can step away, slow down, and engage more deeply with their work.

By bringing together place, process, and practice, these experiences allow for a different kind of learning—one shaped not only by technique, but by environment, rhythm, and time.

Whether working along the coastal light of Stuart, Florida, in the quiet of the North Carolina mountains, or exploring textile traditions in Japan, each experience is designed to support focused study, creative renewal, and a deeper connection to material.

What Sets Our Retreats & Textile Journeys Apart

These experiences are designed as more than workshops—they are immersive environments where process, place, and practice come together.

Rooted in Tradition, Not Trend

Each retreat is grounded in time-honored textile practices, particularly Japanese indigo, shibori, and resist techniques.

The focus is not on quick results, but on understanding—how materials behave, how pattern develops, and how skill is built through repetition.

A Balance of Structure and Discovery

Each day is thoughtfully structured, while still allowing room for exploration, reflection, and creative freedom.

Students are supported in building skill while also following their own direction within the work.

Immersive, Place-Based Learning

Whether in the Blue Ridge Mountains or traveling through Japan, the environment becomes part of the experience.
Natural surroundings, local culture, and regional craft traditions are woven into the rhythm of each retreat.

Direct Connection to Craft Traditions

In Japan, participants engage directly with working artisans and traditional processes in their cultural context—offering a depth of understanding that cannot be replicated elsewhere.

Small Groups, Meaningful Work

Groups are intentionally small, allowing for focused instruction, individual guidance, and a quieter, more connected studio experience.

There is space to work, to think, and to develop ideas without distraction.

Designed for Artists Who Want to Go Deeper

These retreats are not fast-paced or surface-level.
They are created for artists who are willing to slow down, engage fully, and commit to the process of learning.

More than a workshop—these are experiences that stay with you, long after you leave !

🍂Blue in the Mountains:

A Fall Fiber Retreat 🍂

Tue, Oct 13, 2026 – Thu, Oct 22, 2026

There is something about the mountains in October — the crisp air, the turning leaves, the quiet mornings wrapped in mist — that invites us to slow down and create from a deeper place.

I’m so excited to share that Blue in the Mountains Fall Retreat will be held at the Wagonmaster Ranch Resort in beautiful Cherokee County, North Carolina, October 13–22, 2026.

For ten immersive days, we will gather in the Blue Ridge Mountains for indigo dyeing, eco-printing, hand stitching, and spacious time to make, explore, and simply be. We’ll weave in Japanese forest bathing, local mountain culture, and the joy of creating in community during peak leaf season.

This retreat is designed for those who long for meaningful creative time — hands stained blue, quiet studio mornings, mountain hikes, shared meals, and evenings filled with conversation and inspiration.

Cherokee County, with its Appalachian craft heritage and proximity to the Nantahala National Forest, offers the perfect setting for restoration and renewal.
