Surface Design

  • Minimum of 10 pieces white synthetic material, fat quarter sized.

  • can be any synthetic: nylon, acrylic, polyester, sheer.

  • 10 pieces copy paper, any brand, that you would use in a printer

  • paintbrushes: 4-6 watercolor paintbrushes, approx. 1/2 inch diameter or greater: the “Mondo Llama” set from Target is adequate:

  • glue stick for paper, any brand

  • paper scissors

  • For postproduction:  I will provide various media for you to use, optionally, bring any that you would like to experiment with, such as colored pencil, fabric markers and Shiva paint sticks.

If you’d like to bring a 12x12” stitched fabric sample, please do so, I will have ones available to practice on.

  • For watercolor effects:  I will provide the right cotton to paint on.

  • We will use the same brushes that we used for the transfer dye.

  • I will provide the fabric paint: optionally, if you’d like to bring

Dye-Na-Flow, ProChem silk & fabric paint, or Golden high-flow acrylic, this will work as well.

  • a small plastic palette will be helpful, and you will need a roll of paper towels.
