• White cotton PFD recommended

• You may also bring previously dyed natural‑fiber fabrics

• Cut into manageable pieces (fat quarters, ½ yard, 1 yard)

• Label every piece with a Tyvek tag sewn on (initials + name)

PRE‑CLASS PREPARATION

Tyvek Labels

• Cut Tyvek into small tags

• Write initials with Sharpie

• Sew onto each fabric piece

Soda Soak

• Mix soda ash + warm water

• Soak fabric 15 minutes

• Wring out and line dry only

• Do not rinse, machine dry, or iron

• Soda solution can be reused

• Silks: soak no more than 1 week before class
